It is a building from the mid 19th century, used for commerce and housing, with 4 original floors, typical of the Pombaline construction, and an attic floor resulting from an extension, which reflects a history of occupations and changes to which it has been subjected over the centuries.
The building consists of irregular stone masonry load-bearing walls, resistant "frontal" walls and "tabique" walls in the stairwell, "tabique" walls in partition, wooden floors and also a glued laminated timber roof.
The intervention aimed to improve the security conditions of the building while adapting it to modern life needs and to today's standards and requirements. New infrastructures were introduced, as well as an elevator; degraded areas of wooden structures were recovered; wooden floor joists were replaced and new floors in wet areas were created with steel elements; the exterior walls were reinforced, through the execution of a reinforced concrete layer, as well as the interior "tabique" walls, through the fixation of plywood sheets, and the roof was reconstructed with glued laminated timber structures.
