The new road bridge over the Metuchira River locates at Manica Province, in the Inchope administrative post, at k145+895 of the N6. The new Bridge is aprox. 140km from Beira city, and aims to duplicate the N6 road in this section. New Bridge and its accesses also improves the road alignment, aiming to decrease the high accident rate that currently happens there.

As requested by the client, new Bridge was built upstream and parallel to the original bridge. The Bridge has a reinforced concrete deck made up of 4 beams and was built in situ using a false work structure supported on the ground.

The Bridge is a continuous beam type, with 3 spans (end spans of 10.5m each and a central span of 15m) totaling a bridge length of 36m. As requested, cross section has 11.8m width, and accommodates a carriageway (lanes and shoulders) with 8.8m, and walkways with 1.5m each (including the barrier).

Within this Project was also included the execution of new road accesses to the Bridge, on N6 road, totaling around 1,500 meters (Machipanda side 870.78 meters and Beira side 628.22 meters). Road cross section includes a new road carriageway with 2 lanes of 3.40m each and paved shoulders of 1.50m on the left and right side. Road works encompasses alignment, earthworks, drainage signalization and safety and pavement (following the same pavement solution of original road as client requirement).

BETAR was the designer (for road and bridge) and the responsible for site supervision of the Works and technical advice to the Employer.
