Born in Lisbon on 28 September 1962.
Degree in Civil Engineering, branch of Structures in 1985 at the Instituto Superior Técnico (Lisboa). Master in Structure Engineering by the Instituto Superior Técnico, in 2006. Qualifies professionally as Senior Member specializing in Structures of the College of Engineers.
Started his professional activity as an intern Engineer in the projects branch for the company Teixeira Duarte, gaining experience in metallic structures.
In 1986, joins Prequipe, as Engineer Responsible for the Project sector.
In July 1987, joins BETAR’s team as a Planning Engineer.
Becomes Project Leader in July 1989, at Betar Consultores, Lda, in charge of coordinating, managing and designing the Project portfolio.
Since January 1993, works both as Project Leader and Manager in Betar Consultores, being responsible for all the projects in this area and for the different sectors in the company like the Finance sector.
In May 1997, becomes General Manager of Production of the “Works of Art Management System (GOA)”. He is responsible for supervising the development of this system and coordinating the inspections for the customers of the GOA system as well as for the local authorities, Concessionaires (Auto-Estradas do Atlântico, Lusoscut, Aenor, Brisa) and IEP.
In 1997, is the elected Vice-President of the Associação de Vias e Pontes (APVP), becoming its President for three consecutive years (2000 – 2003).
Thanks to his wide experience in the rehabilitation and reinforcement of the Works of Art sector, he has presented several articles in: the Luso-Mozambican Route and Bridge Engineering Conference, the National Meeting of Metal and Mixed Building, the IABMAS– First International Conference on Bridge Maintenance, Safety and Management.
